What the number on each card actually covers

Most Sri Lankan quotes exclude park fees, hotel taxes and the driver’s meals, then collect them on the road. Ours does not. Here is the full split, so you can compare like with like.

Timing

Two monsoons, opposite coasts

The one genuine complication when planning Sri Lanka, and the reason a good itinerary depends on your month.

December to March

Peak on the southwest and in the hill country. Galle, Mirissa, Ella and the Cultural Triangle are all at their best. Book December and January early — vehicles genuinely run out.

April and October

The two shoulder windows when both coasts are usable at once. Thinner crowds, lower rates, and the best months for any itinerary that crosses the island.

May to September

Peak on the east coast — Trincomalee, Nilaveli, Pasikuda and Arugam Bay. The southwest gets its monsoon, so we shift the nights eastward rather than pretend otherwise.

Tell us your dates before you pick an itinerary. We would rather rebalance the nights toward whichever coast is in season than sell you a route that looks good on paper and rains for a week.

Questions

Before you book a package

Message us if yours is not here. We reply within twelve hours, and usually much faster on WhatsApp.

Yes, and most people do. Add nights, drop a stop, swap Yala for Wilpattu, start from Negombo instead of the airport. We rewrite it around you at no charge — you only pay more if the changes genuinely cost more, and we show you exactly where.
No. We can book everything on half board, or you book your own and we simply drive you between them. Guests who use points or have a favourite villa often do the latter, and the price drops accordingly.
Multi-day packages are per person based on two sharing, because the hotel cost dominates. Day tours and transfers are per vehicle, so a family of four pays the same as a couple. Each card states which.
Child seats are free on request and we will say honestly which itineraries suit young children. The 11 and 15-day routes have long driving days that most under-sixes find hard; the Highlights and Classic loops are gentler.
For December and January, three to four months. Vehicles and the better hill country hotels genuinely sell out, and this is real scarcity rather than a sales tactic. Outside those months, four to six weeks is comfortable.
A 25% deposit confirms the booking and the balance is settled with your driver at the end of the trip. Card payment for the deposit is being set up now; until it is live we send bank transfer details and confirm in writing the moment it clears.

None of these quite right? Say so.

Most of our trips start as one of the itineraries above and end up somewhere else entirely. Tell us what you want and we will write it.
